New Product Discoveries

Sorry I’ve been so MIA lately! When I jumped back into acting/performing, I didn’t realize it would mean four shows in 2014, beginning rehearsals for “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” and ending with performances of “Little Shop of Horrors” in November. I wouldn’t change a thing about it, except for how infrequently I blog now!

Anyways, I just wanted to let you all know about some fun new products I’ve purchased recently that I think are major must-haves in a good makeup kit. Not all of them have been released recently, but they’re new to me. 🙂 This isn’t really a makeup product review per se, although I’ll be talking about why I like them. There’s so much fun makeup always coming out on a regular basis!

Eyeshadow Palettes

Anastasia Beverly Hills Maya Mia Palette – Thus far, ABH has collaborated with three different MUAs to create individualized eyeshadow palettes (@dressyourface Tamanna Palette, @maya_mia_y Maya Mia Palette, and @amrezy Amrezy Palette). While the other two are lovely, I was especially pleased with the Maya Mia because of the gorgeous shadow colors I haven’t seen in other palettes. I’ve created a lot of looks using the palette and love it!

Urban Decay Shadow Box – The Vice 3 has been released and everyone’s gone nuts over it, but I couldn’t help but notice the less publicized Shadow Box palette. I think it’s probably because I missed out on Vice 2 before it sold out but did manage to get my hands on the Deluxe Shadow Box a couple years back. 🙂 While 9 of the 12 shadows are already released bestsellers, I don’t have any palettes with them, so they’re all brand new to me. I love Urban Decay shadows because of how pigmented and blendable they are, and this palette has some really stunning shadows. It’s been my go to the past few looks, and I still have lots in mind!

Lorac Pro 2 – I didn’t add this palette to my personal kit but rather my client kit, and I love the versatility. It’s 8 matte shadows and 8 shimmer shadows that all complement each other beautifully. It’s well pigmented and blendable, although there’s a lot of fall out when you tap your brush, which is a little unfortunate. I love how I can use the palette alone or combine it with the Naked 2 for really stunning results.

Lashes

Sugarpill Eyelash Overdose – To be honest, the only reason I purchased these lashes in the first place was because I needed about $7 more to get free shipping from Beautylish when I ordered the Maya Mia palette. I’m glad I did, however, because they’re really gorgeous! I’d put them on par with Oh My Lash and just a notch below House of Lashes. They’re extremely durable, meaning they’re long lasting, and they look really nice on. I’ll absolutely order Sugarpill lashes again!

House of Lashes (Bambie, Iconic, Starlet) – I, of course, had to purchase all three of these styles when they were first launched, and aside from a really terrible day during which I tore one of the Starlet in half, they’ve been really great (that doesn’t really speak to the durability as much as how rough I am with fragile things). My favorites are Iconic because of how VA-VA-VOOOM glam they are, but Starlet give the sexy bedroom eyes Marilyn Monroe made so famous.

Face

e.l.f. Studio Contouring Cream & Blush – I’ve been looking for a contouring product that I could really say I was in love with. Bronzers left me feeling pretty cold because it never looked natural enough, so I decided to try a cream product instead. I am SO glad I did! I don’t really use the cream blush often at all, but the contouring cream has become a daily product for me. I love how easy it is to use, how blendable and natural it appears, and how thin my face looks when all is said and done. 🙂 I can use just a bit in certain areas for a natural day to day look or really amp things up and go full out H&C for evening.

Lipsticks

NYX Macaron Lippies – I am a real sucker for lipsticks/glosses/pencils. I have over 100 different options, from palettes of gloss to a full lipstick organizer, because it’s the fastest and easiest way to really change up your look. It’s fun to see how different your makeup looks simply by changing your lip color! Macaron Lippies are a lot of fun. They’re not for everybody or for every event (I’ve worn the blue lipstick a few times and gotten some weird looks, but I don’t care!), but they’re fun to play around with anyhow. I have Violet and Earl Grey and plan on purchasing more in the future.
